After the gear is surface quenched by electromagnetic induction heating equipment, some quality inspections are first carried out, such as the composition of the raw material steel, the core hardness of the gear, surface hardness, structure and quality, and the depth of the hardened layer, to see if it meets the standard technical requirements.
But not all quenched gears will be qualified, because during the quenching heat treatment process, common quality defects may occur in gears due to materials, operations, and other reasons. We will take corresponding measures to solve this problem.
1. The surface hardness is uneven, which is due to the uneven distance between the sensor and the gear during induction quenching, and the raw material steel used has a strip like structure precipitation inside; Localized occurrence of oxidation decarbonization; During heating and cooling, if the temperature is too high or too low, the gears are not uniformly heated. In this regard, we need to check the quality of the steel before production, and clean the gears before quenching to remove oil and rust on their surface; The spray holes of the sensor should be evenly distributed and checked for blockages in the holes in a timely manner; When quenching, heating and cooling, the temperature should be uniform and the operation should be carried out according to the standard requirements.
2. The surface of the gear shows quenching cracking, which is due to the high quenching temperature and local overheating phenomenon, as well as the high carbon content and uneven composition of the selected production materials; Insufficient tempering treatment was not carried out in a timely manner during tempering. In this regard, we need to select suitable quenching media based on the raw materials and carry out cooling treatment according to standard specifications; The quenching temperature should be strictly controlled, not too high or too low, and the shape of the induction heating device's inductor should be adjusted in a timely manner according to the shape of the gear.
3. The hardness of the gear surface is too high or too low, which is due to the high or low carbon content of the raw materials; Improper temperature during quenching and heating; During tempering, heating was not strictly carried out according to the required temperature and time. We need to adjust the hardness according to the requirements; Reasonably select cooling media and carry out tempering treatment according to the required tempering process specifications.
4. The depth of the hardened layer is not deep, which is due to the high frequency and short heating time of the induction heating equipment, and the gear not selecting a suitable cooling medium during cooling. In this regard, we need to choose suitable electromagnetic induction heating equipment and adjust heating parameters in a timely manner to meet the standard requirements; Choose a suitable cooling medium for cooling treatment.
5. Deformation is caused by improper heating and inappropriate selection of cooling medium. In this regard, we need to operate according to standard heating specifications, choose a suitable cooling medium, and ensure that the heating and cooling of the gears can be carried out uniformly.
